The Dr. Robert C. and Veronica Atkins Foundation was established in 1999 and funds independent, scientific research examining the role of metabolism and nutrition in disease and other major health concerns confronting our society. Through a proactive grantmaking strategy, the Atkins Foundation seeks to invest in the science of nutrition and the formulation of nutrition policy.

To date, the Foundation has funded more than 50 research programs, projects and awards totaling nearly $30 million. Its ultimate objective: Advance the science, from the laboratory into the community, to raise public awareness about the importance of sound nutrition habits in achieving good health, a goal to which Dr. Atkins devoted his life.
